Xiangji Stand

This piece, slightly modified from a 16th-century Chinese original, is composed of an octagonal top, a one-piece molded apron, cabriole legs with sliding dovetail into apron and tenon into the top, and a bottom frame with shaped feet. The piece is ingeniously constructed as to enable being assembled either with or without glue. While traditionally used to hold incense, it case also be used as a plant stand or everyday end table.
