Neha Chair

Based on Ming Chinese chairs and full of complications in design and construction, the Neha chair is probably the most difficult of my designs to build, as well as one of the more elegant. The chair features an refined pegged scarf joint to connect the five pieces of the crest rail, front and rear posts that continue through the seat with puzzle-like interlocking joinery before continuing up to precisely cope into the crest rail, mitered brackets, and mitered and coped through tenons. Most of this joinery is on a compound angle, adding greatly to the complexity, but worthwhile for the subtle angling of all parts giving a gracious sense of refinement.
